Pacquiao is on the hot seat recently for answering an interview question about same-sex marriage. Pacquiao discussed his views on same-sex marriages with Granville Ampong, saying he opposes US President Obama’s stance on the issue.
For speaking out his belief, Pacquiao is now labeled as homophobic, banned from entering some places, lost sponsorships, condemned by most, and lost fans by the number.
Pacquiao has found a new faith. And like most Christians who just discovered the love of God, Pacquiao ‘s eyes were opened to the sins of the world. Almost overnight, he gave up his vices and became a loving husband and father to his family, quoting Bible verses and publicly announcing his faith.
And since the public is now seeing a new man in Pacquiao, some are skeptical, others critical, and some sees this as an opportunity to crash and burn him at the stake.
The man merely said an opinion about same-sex marriages. One doesn’t have to read the entire 66 books of the Bible to know that God forbids same sex relationships. Every Christian knows that. Those that are abominable to God are the things a new Christian learns. And so did Pacquiao.
But we admire Pacquiao for being so bold about his faith. Now he understands how it is to suffer persecution and to stand for what he believes in, even if it will cost him his popularity.
