Pacquiao and His New Found Faith

Pacquiao is on the hot seat recently for answering an interview question about same-sex marriage. Pacquiao discussed his views on same-sex marriages with Granville Ampong, saying he opposes US President Obama’s stance on the issue.

For speaking out his belief, Pacquiao is now labeled as homophobic, banned from entering some places, lost sponsorships, condemned by most, and lost fans by the number.

Pacquiao has found a new faith. And like most Christians who just discovered the love of God, Pacquiao ‘s eyes were opened to the sins of the world. Almost overnight, he gave up his vices and became a loving husband and father to his family, quoting Bible verses and publicly announcing his faith.

And since the public is now seeing a new man in Pacquiao, some are skeptical, others critical, and some sees this as an opportunity to crash and burn him at the stake.

The man merely said an opinion about same-sex marriages. One doesn’t have to read the entire 66 books of the Bible to know that God forbids same sex relationships. Every Christian knows that. Those that are abominable to God are the things a new Christian learns. And so did Pacquiao.

But we admire Pacquiao for being so bold about his faith. Now he understands how it is to suffer persecution and to stand for what he believes in, even if it will cost him his popularity.

Choosing A Life Partner

Aha! I got your attention! That could mean your facebook status is currently single. Or, or if you are in a relationship, you probably want to make sure if he (or she) is the right one.

Forget about what you’ve learned in Dating 101 on finding the right person. And stop looking for your better half! Start looking for that person who is whole and complete!

But that’s getting ahead of myself. So we begin.

If you are 15, 16 or 18, you have no business of thinking about meeting your life partner now, unless you want to get married at a young age. Getting in a relationship is preparing yourself into marriage. That’ s why I find it rather amusing to hear lovers say that they are not yet ready for marriage. If you find yourself in a relationship, it is assuming you are ready for marriage. Ready physically, mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually.

Before Getting In A Relationship
Age is not an indication that one is ready for a serious relationship. If you are ready to commit yourself to another person, stop looking for that perfect person. Rather, you should concentrate on becoming the perfect one. The person who comes when you are right and ready is the one for you. Provided of course, you get to know him the best you can.

In A Relationship
The stages of a relationship are courtship, dating, engagement, and then marriage. Dating is that ‘in a relationship’ status you put in facebook. Some consider dating as the most exciting, fun stage. Going on a group date is the most effective way of getting to know your partner. Those unguarded moments are honest, direct and reveal a person’s true colors. Unlike if you go on a one-on-one date, a person would be cautious and careful, therefore not exposing who he really is. Bad attitudes and characters should be non-negotiable. Don’t kid yourself to believing that the person would change for you. As the saying goes, if he walks like a jerk, talks like a jerk, he is a jerk!

Don’t look away when you see his flaws. Love is not blind. Rather, open your eyes as wide as you can. Look closely. Remember, when you tie that knot, that is when you take him all at his worst. So, what you see now is what you get. And don’t believe that crap that he will change. It’s not gonna happen.

(More next time so be sure to come back!)

Jesus and the Remote Control

In the past not so long time ago, our televisions didn’t come with remote controls. If you need to change channels or adjust the volumes, you would have to move your butt from the couch and actually do yourself the changing. Nowadays, the remote control saves us all the trouble of moving from where we are sitting just to change the channels.

Jesus works somewhat like a remote control. When He came down from His heavenly throne and became a man, He was involved personally in people-changing them, tuning them or shutting them up. When He gave up His life and went back to heaven, He didn’t stop connecting with His people. He is still working through us remotely. He moves us and we can feel it. He changes us and we know it.

That is why we put our confidence in Him. We know that He is in control. We let go and truly rely and trust on Him. We simply allow Him to control us, we let Him be in charge and believe that He knows what is best. For without Him we can do nothing. For without Him, we are just dead set.

Her Majesty Cate Blanchett

We love the Cate Blanchett. She is lovely, she is smart, and she is one of finest actresses in Hollywood to date, if not THE finest. Love her accent, love her wit, love everything that is Blanchett.

Elizabeth the Golden Age is one of our favorite movies. Her portrayal as her Majesty the Queen was overpowering it brought shivers. Another movie we will always remember is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button opposite Brad Pitt.

Perhaps the most intriguing role for Cate Blanchett was when she played the part of Bob Dylan in I’m Not There. Few actresses can pull a role of a man and Cate Blanchett surely nailed it. She studied and had Dylan’s mannerism and voice! Totally sublime. And when she didn’t come home with an Oscar that year for I’m Not There we shouted “Robbed (again)!”

Cate Blanchett celebrates her 43rd birthday on 14 May.To commemorate her birthday, here’s her majesty queen of Hollywood Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan in I’m Not Here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Remembering Christmas in April

I find myself playing Christmas songs in April and totally being sentimental. I love Christmas. It’s my most favorite time of the year. And the songs instantly drive me to my Christmas past and my problem with Santa.

When I was young, I live in a compound with my cousins. Among the three families in that compound, we had to be the poorest among all.

So Christmas time will come and all kids in the compound are excited for the most beautiful morning ever. Not because we care about God coming down to earth to save us from our sins but because we want to find out what Santa will give. Please understand that I am from a country with only two types of season: hot and very hot so you can forget about the chimney and fireplace altogether. How Santa got in our house is a question my mother would certainly NOT entertain. Continue reading

Jay S: This Girl Can Sing or What?

Jessica Sanchez. Sweet sixteen… and singing at par with the pros!
I’m a bit skeptical if she wins this American contest. But nevertheless, she is giving a good fight and obviously, the judges are by her side. And hopefully a career awaits her, win or lose.

Here is BB with her rendition of Whitney’s “I will Always Love You”, for American Idol Top 13. Truly a Filipino pride.
